TUESDAY 26/5/2026 KALAMATA-SPARTA-GYTHEON START TIME : 09:00
The day begins in Kalamata, a coastal city known for its olives and sea breeze. Cyclists mount their race bikes and head inland, ascending toward Artemisia, a mountain village nestled on the slopes of Mount Taygetos.
The climb is steep and timed—a true test of endurance. At the summit, riders enjoy a quick refresh, surrounded by panoramic views of the Peloponnese. Then comes the thrilling descent toward Agios Vasileios and Tripiti, winding through pine forests and rocky terrain.
The route leads into Sparta, where the group pauses for commemorative photos at the statue of the legendary King Leonidas—a moment of pride and inspiration.
From Sparta, the journey continues through Anogeia, Paleopanagia, and Xirokambi, where cyclists stop briefly in the village square for rest and local nourishment.
The final stretch winds through Kaminia and Patamia, before reaching the seaside town of Gythio, with its neoclassical charm and harbor views. Riders settle in at the Las Hotel, ready to relax after a day of mountain climbs, heroic landmarks, and coastal beauty.
